57 Apollo House
Kim Shaw
Taken at The Old Vinyl Factory in Hayes. Apollo House was where vinyl LPs were pressed, everyone from Frank Sinatra to The Beatles to The Rolling Stones. My research indicates that Anarchy in the UK by The Sex Pistols was the last vinyl to be pressed there. This series was captured on film using a plastic toy camera, then printed and toned in the darkroom. Entirely analog in tribute to the music made at The Old Vinyl Factory.
Kim Shaw is a photographic artist whose work is nearly entirely analogue and/or experimental. She has most recently shown at London Art Fair 2020 as a part of the curated Photo 50 exhibition. The work from this series (Paper Ghosts) has also been shown at Jenny Blyth Fine Art at Art Jericho and Soho Photo Gallery in NYC. Shaw has had her work featured in Hyperallergic, Huck Magazine, BBC Online, Uncertain States, and the FT.
